Woolpert Hires Survey Group Project Director

Dave Barron recently joined Woolpert Inc. as a project director in the survey group.

Barron has more than 20 years of experience in directing client projects. His areas of expertise are in GIS application development, client development and information technology. In his new role at Woolpert, Barron will be coordinating services provided to airports, with focus on surveying, GIS and mapping.

As manager of the Technical Data Center at the Greater Toronto Airport Authority, Barron was involved in a variety of projects. His experience included managing engineering documents and software, CADD data standards, GIS system implementation, vehicle tracking prototype, asset management and airport maintenance. Barron also helped integrate Propworks software to help manage airport leases through a GIS interface. He worked with contactors to integrate as-builts for a $4.2 billion expansion to meet airport data submission standards. He created an information- sharing data warehouse between airport departments, and was involved in the creation of data and software service level agreement programs.

Barron earned a bachelor's degree in geodetic sciences from the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. He is a member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and serves on their GIS Standards Committee. He is an Ontario Land Surveyor and has a Certificate of Registration in photogrammetry and geographic information management. Barron is the founding board of director member of the Geomatic Industry Associate of Canada (GIAC).
