MoreRussell S. Kauffman, PLS, was recently named Woolpert, Inc.'s geographic information services (GIS) federal Department of Defense group manager.
Working out of Woolpert's Hampton Roads, Va., office, Kauffman will be responsible for providing all branches of the nation's military with Woolpert's innovative mix of GIS and surveying services. Kauffman will also manage the firm's onsite staff at Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) and Air Force Mobility Command (AMC) bases.
Kauffman possesses more than 30 years of experience in utility surveying, mapping, distribution engineering and GIS. His background includes extensive experience in computer-assisted drafting, GIS and relational database management system technologies. He has led a number of major surveying, mapping and GIS efforts for large utility land holdings, extensive wetlands environmental remediation and regulatory compliance projects.
A New Jersey Institute of Technology graduate with a B.S. in civil engineering, Kauffman is a licensed professional land surveyor and member of the American Society of Military Engineers, New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors, American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Urban and Regional Information Systems Association and United States Naval Institute.
