Maptech Adds Companion CD-ROM to Its Paper Chartbooks

The Chartbook Companion CD-ROM has the same Maptech charts; the same GPS waypoints and the same pre-plotted courses just like in the paper chartbooks.

For more than 25 years Maptech ChartKit books have been recognized as the standard for high-value full-color reproductions of NOAA charts for boaters and fishermen. In the last several years thousands of boaters have added electronics to their navigation routine with chartplotters or computers onboard. Paper charts are viewed primarily as a necessary backup in the event of a power failure and as an easy way to see the big picture. Maptech's large-sized paper charts cover a large area and compliment the small screens on typical chartplotters. Yet the common complaint is that charts displayed on chartplotters do not have the detail of NOAA paper charts.

Here's where Maptech offers a perfect solution. Starting in 2005 Maptech is adding a Companion CD-ROM to its ChartKits and Waterproof Chartbooks. The Chartbook Companion CD-ROM has the exact same charts; the same GPS waypoints and the same pre-plotted courses just like in the chartbooks... and it comes with GPS Real-Time Positioning/Planning Software at no additional cost.

  • Block Island RI to Canadian Border
