MicroSurvey Software Inc. and Sokkia Corporation announced a strategic alliance between the two firms focused on increasing market share in the forensic and construction markets.
MicroSurvey will provide Sokkia with a branded version of its flagship product, MicroSurvey CAD 2005, that includes additional features designed to benefit both customers. The new product, branded "Sokkia SitePlan - powered by MSCAD 2005," will be sold and promoted to forensic, law enforcement and construction customers through its network of 380 dealers.
According to John L. Florio, manager, Product Planning and Support, for Sokkia Corporation, "Sokkia chose MicroSurvey CAD 2005 for Sokkia SitePlan because of MicroSurvey's strong industry reputation for developing easy-to-use software as well as its high levels of customer service. These qualities align well with Sokkia's business philosophy and the product's target market construction and law enforcement." Florio goes on to say, "a Sokkia SitePlan/Total Station bundle will provide great value for construction customers looking for easier ways to work with data in the field or office."
One key feature of Sokkia SitePlan is that it uses MicroSurvey CAD 2005 as a common platform for both construction and law enforcement versions. According to Duke Dutch, Sokkia Law Enforcement Applications manager, "We believe law enforcement and construction customers share many similarities, so developing a law enforcement solution based on MicroSurvey CAD 2005 makes complete sense. This means our Sokkia dealers will be able to serve both markets without having to learn different programs - it really shortens their learning curve, and they'll love that."
"We are extremely pleased that Sokkia selected MicroSurvey CAD as the engine for SitePlan. It demonstrates both the quality and competitiveness of MicroSurvey in the market," said Darcy J. Detlor, MicroSurvey president. "Sokkia identified a need that our Basic version fills perfectly, so it was a easy for us to customize it to their specifications."
