SDSPLS 25th Anniversary Celebration at Mt. Rushmore

Sep 20, 2008
Hosted by South Dakota Society of Professional Land Surveyors
Keystone, South Dakota

at Mt. Rushmore National Memorial Sept. 20

South Dakota Society of Professional Land Surveyors (SDSPLS) will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary in 2008. The focus of our celebration will be an afternoon of surveying history at Mt. Rushmore National Memorial on Saturday, September 20, 2008.

The event will feature surveying related history of the three surveying presidents (Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln) and highlights of South Dakota surveying history. We hope to expand the public knowledge and understanding of how surveyors have contributed to and influenced the development of our great nation and the program will be open to the general public at no charge.

We are extending our invitation to surveyors from across the nation and we hope to have
representatives from each state. This will be a unique opportunity for surveyors from South Dakota
and the United States to gather at the home of three of our country's most famous surveyors.  For our surveying friends, registration costs will be nominal - just $50 for the afternoon program,
including a commemorative booklet and color group photo. There will also be a banquet dinner
following the group photo. Seating for the banquet is limited and tickets are available for a separate
fee.

The highlight of the afternoon event will be a special group photo celebrating "300+ Surveyors and
One Other Guy". The photo will be on the viewing terrace with the monument as our background.
The photo will be limited to the surveyors attending and will not be open to the general public.

The program will begin at 1:00 pm in the outdoor amphitheater and will conclude at 4:30 pm with the group photo (300+ Surveyors and One other Guy) on the viewing terrace. A banquet will follow at 6:00 pm in the President's Dining Room at Mt. Rushmore. Registration for the banquet is separate from the program and seating is limited, so register early.
The outdoor amphitheater is a beautiful setting at the base of the monument. SD weather is generally temperate and in the 70's at this time of year but we recommend that you dress for possibly cooler temperatures and bring an umbrella, stadium seat or cushion for your comfort.
We hope that you can join us for this special event! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. The registration form is available at  http://www.sdspls.org/25th_Reg.pdf.
