April 28, 2008

PORTLAND, OREGON - Applanix announced today that it has developed a solution for Aerial Tactical Mapping Operations. The solution, comprised of a DSS RapidOrtho system with a high-performance 250mm focal length AeroLens option, allows system users to collect rapid directly georeferenced digital aerial imagery at high altitudes for reconnaissance and planning.

The announcement was made today at the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) 2008 Annual Conference.

Applanix is a leading supplier of directly georeferenced airborne imaging solutions for the rapid response market. The high altitude tactical mapping option for the DSS RapidOrtho system expands upon this capability, primarily for those applications dealing with military and security operations. It offers a unique and safe method of collection of high-resolution, directly georeferenced data at high altitudes.

“Applanix continues to define requirements for products and solutions for mobile mapping and positioning across many market segments. The development of the High Altitude Tactical Mapping option for the DSS RapidOrtho system demonstrates Applanix’s commitment to this vision. Careful design considerations have gone into a stable system architecture, supported by a unique workflow that generates map products specific to military and security first responders,” said Joe Hutton, Director of Airborne Products at Applanix.

The High Altitude Tactical Mapping option for the DSS RapidOrtho system produces Ortho Map products of small areas and corridors for planning and monitoring. This combination of hardware and software is uniquely recognized in the industry for meeting the requirements of such data collection.
