Spicer Corporation announced that ViewCaf¿will provide highly integrated document viewing and markup capabilities for
FileNet's new P8 architecture, an integrated framework that leverages
content management, business process managements and enterprise application
connectivity capabilities to speed critical business decision making.
ViewCaf¿ Java-2-powered universal document viewing and markup
capabilities bridge the communications gap between enterprise content and
business processes, enabling FileNet P8 users to collaboratively review
critical documents with business partners anywhere in the world.
ViewCaf¿ seamless integration to the FileNet P8 architecture enables
users to view over 200 types of electronic documents in their native
format, without requiring the application that created the files. The tight
integration to FileNet P8 and the FileNet repository enables users to
benefit from additional functions such as:
- Multiple Document Link Sites - ViewCaf¿inks to business content from
virtually every page in the FileNet P8 Workplace and Workbench. Users can
display documents simply by clicking on the ViewCaf¿con beside the
document listing. ViewCaf¿an also be configured to recognize externally
referenced files and open them with the main document.
- Markup Security - Users can configure security settings for each markup
session, and can modify these settings at a later date if necessary.
- File Versioning - ViewCaf¿isplays the most recent version of the file
with the most up-to-date markups. Preceding markup sessions are also linked
to previous versions of the document and can be retrieved if required.
- Support for Workflow Attachments - ViewCaf¿s a key part of the workflow
process and can open attachments, add markups, and save them for others to
review.
FileNet's P8 architecture is designed to provide enterprise-level
scalability and flexibility to handle the most demanding and complex
content, business process and application integration challenges. It
combines the capabilities of FileNet's popular Panagon platform, Acenza
application framework and its Brightspire eBusiness framework and Business
Process Management technology into a unified ECM platform. Additionally,
the FileNet P8 architecture utilizes a single repository, single user
experience, and a single Application Programming Interface (API) set for
developers. FileNet is the only ECM vendor delivering this level of
functionality in a unified ECM architecture, making it possible for
customers to reduce the risks associated with contracting multiple ECM
vendors and lowering their total cost of ownership.
