Topcon Names Smith Director of GNSS Product Management

LIVERMORE, Calif. – Fraser Smith, a geomatics engineer with
extensive experience in GNSS product research and development (R&D), has
been named director of GNSS product management for Topcon Positioning Systems
(TPS).
Smith, former R&D manager for Point, Inc., will report to Mark
Hornstra, senior vice president, marketing and product management.
About
Smith’s appointment, Hornstra said he “will take the leadership role in defining
the product line strategies for GNSS products for Topcon and Sokkia.”
He
said Smith “has a wealth of experience that will help create our next generation
of innovative GNSS products. Fraser’s background will help optimize our
development roadmaps and plans to improve product time-to-market and cost
performance.”
Smith’s responsibilities will include working closely with
the company’s engineering groups, as well as marketing and operations teams to
“ensure the development of innovative and exciting products, that continue to be
world-class in regard to quality and performance,” Hornstra
said.
Topcon Positioning Systems, Inc. (TPS) designs
and manufactures precise positioning products and solutions for the global
surveying, construction, agriculture, civil engineering, mapping and GIS, asset
management and mobile control markets. TPS’ parent company, Topcon Corporation
(Tokyo Stock Exchange – 7732), was founded in 1932.
