Use of non-proprietary map displays within CAD and mobile dispatch environment advances situational awareness to streamline response and help save lives

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Aug. 17, 2009 – Intergraph, the world leader in public safety and security incident response management and reporting solutions, now offers a public safety computer-aided dispatch solution that  supports Google Maps API Premier, the enterprise version of the Google Maps API. The ability to view Google Maps provides communications and field personnel with advanced situational awareness and promotes effective and efficient response to mitigate incident impact and save lives.
Intergraph I/CAD version 9.0 and Intergraph Mobile for Public Safety public safety solutions now  provide emergency response personnel with the familiar Google Maps API Premier user interface that allows for several popular modes of map viewing of an incident location, such as street level, satellite or hybrid view.

The additional map views increase situational awareness by providing emergency response personnel with improved insight and understanding of an emergency location and the surrounding area. The availability of ancillary map views also helps agency resource management by displaying emergency incident locations and response resources on the integrated Google Map. Google Maps API Premier allows Intergraph to include fully interactive Google Maps on public and internal websites, with business features like advanced geocoding and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) data transport.

“For fast and effective emergency response, it is essential to equip public safety personnel and emergency responders with actionable information for greater situational awareness and visualization,” said Daniel Chu, product manager, Google Enterprise. “By enabling Intergraph’s solution to support Google Maps API Premier, first-responders can be prepared with comprehensive knowledge of the geospatial situation lying ahead and deploy the appropriate resources.”

“As a leading global provider of public safety and security incident management and reporting solutions, Intergraph’s technologies are consistently undergoing modernization in order to provide reliable functionality to put actionable information where and when it is needed for streamlined, effective response,” said John K. Graham, president, Intergraph Security, Government & Infrastructure. “By providing our customers with the ability to access open, map displays, such as Google Maps emergency response personnel achieve advanced situational awareness and have a greater ability to save lives and promote public safety and security in the communities they serve.”

Intergraph is the leading global provider of incident management software and reporting solutions. One in 12 people in the world is protected by Intergraph public safety and security solutions.
