Lovin Seated as MAPPS President, McDonald Elected President-Elect:Five New Directors Take Office

Reston, VA - Members of MAPPS (www.mapps.org), the association of private geospatial firms, elected a slate of five new directors to the organization's board of directors, and new officers were seated on Friday, June 26, 2009. The actions took place during the association's annual business meeting at its 2009 summer conference in Brewster, MA.

Jeff Lovin of Woolpert, Inc. (Dayton, OH) assumed the office of President of MAPPS. In that position, Mr. Lovin will serve as chairman of the Board of Directors. The Board elected Richard "Dick" McDonald of Geospatial Corporation (Sarver, PA) as President Elect, Mike Tully, Aerial Services, Inc. (Cedar Falls, IA) as Secretary and Robert "Bob" Hickey of Photo Science, Inc. (West Chester, PA) as Treasurer.

Newly elected to the Board by the MAPPS membership as directors are Eric Andelin, Aerial Data Service, Inc. (Tulsa, OK), Craig Molander, Surdex Corporation (Chesterfield, MO), Mark Safran, BAE Systems (Mount Laurel, NJ), and Mr. Tully.

Re-elected to the Board was Brant Howard, CompassData, Inc, (Centennial, CO) and Mr. Hickey. Rounding out the 9-person Board is incumbent director Scott Perkins, Wilson & Company (Kansas City, MO)

"It is a great honor for me to take office as the President of MAPPS," said Lovin. "Woolpert has benefited from its membership in MAPPS for more than 20 years and I have personally and professionally profited from the information, education and relationships in MAPPS. I am pleased to have this opportunity to give back to our profession and the clients we serve."

Mr. Lovin is the Vice President and Managing Principal of the Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Division of Woolpert. He has served as a member of the MAPPS Board of Directors, President-Elect, chairman of the Aviation Bill Task Force and as a member of the Legislative Affairs Committee.

Mr. McDonald is the Executive Vice President of GIS Operations for Geospatial Corporation. He has been a member of the MAPPS Board of Directors for the past four years, serving as Secretary for the past two, is chairman of the Underground Utilities Task Force and co-Chair of the MAPPS Agency Liaison Committee with Department of Defense (DoD) & Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
