Jacksonville, Fla. - Clary & Associates Marketing Director Shari Schurr was recognized as the “Member of the Year” by the North Florida Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).

Schurr received the award for her service as public relations/communications chair for the non-profit, professional organization during fiscal year 2008-2009.

“Shari took on a very demanding chair position while heading up a committee as a first year board member, which is extraordinary in itself,” said SMPS Chapter President JoAnn Leisher of Taylor Engineering, Inc. “She was responsible for our website redesign and updates, communication with members, presentation materials for meetings, and a lot of other publicity projects. She did an amazing job.”

Schurr joined Clary & Associates, Inc. in 1999. Based in Jacksonville, the firm provides professional surveying and mapping services – specializing in all sizes of residential and commercial land development projects. The firm serves clients in the real estate, architecture, engineering and transportation industries, and state and local governments.

Schurr became a member of the North Florida Chapter of SMPS in 2006. In addition to her award, she was also chosen by SMPS members to serve as president-elect for the chapter during the upcoming 2009-2010 term beginning in September.

SMPS was created in 1973 by a small group of leaders from professional services firms who recognized the need to sharpen skills, pool resources, and work together to create business opportunities. Today, SMPS represents a network of nearly 7,000 marketing and business development professionals from architectural, engineering, planning, interior design, construction, and specialty consulting firms located throughout the United States and Canada.
