RICHARDSON, Texas – Halff Associates, Inc. (Halff), one of the nations leading engineering/architecture consulting firms, has used its unique expertise and resources in the area of 3-dimensional visualization—to expand beyond the engineering sector. In recognition of developing innovative, cutting-edge visualization that allows project planners “walk through” their finished project digitally before construction begins, Halffs’ Visual Science and Technology Division (Halff VST) has been awarded a Telly Award for their animation work on the DFW Connector for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Fort Worth District.

The DFW Connector project, produced by Halff in cooperation with the TxDOT Fort Worth District, is a 14.4 mile, 3-dimensional visualization—that will include a 24-lane corridor encompassing 7 highways, 6 interchanges and 10 bridges. The 1:1 scale not only portrays real-world accuracy to uncover any major design flaws, but also helps to streamline public understanding.

“This cutting-edge technology makes it possible for the general public to see and ‘drive’ all of the interconnecting highways and interchanges that will make up the DFW Connector,” said Maribel Chavez, TxDOT Fort Worth District Engineer. “Visualization is an invaluable tool that offers the public a real-world view of this mega-project. With such a complex project at nearly $2 billion, we owe the public this visualization tool to provide a better understanding of its ultimate scope.”

Jeff Christensen, managing director of Halff VST noted, “We are very honored to have received such an award. Through the utilization of award-winning software and hardware, hundreds of workstations rendering 24 hours a day and the expert knowledge-base of our in-house designers and engineers, Halff is able to provide a complete visual solution for complex visualization problems.”

Founded in 1978, the nationally-recognized Telly Awards honor the very best in local, regional and cable TV commercials as well as the finest video and film production. The Telly is one of the most sought-after awards by industry leaders, from large international firms to local production companies and ad agencies.
