BHC RHODES awarded Mr. Mac Andrew, P.E., Director of Infrastructure and Transportation for Johnson County, with their fifth annual Community Leadership Award during a breakfast reception at Carriage House Country Club in Kansas City, MO on June 10th.

As tradition, the award was presented on behalf of BHC RHODES by a Kansas City Chief’s player. This year’s award was presented by Dustin Colquitt, #2, Punter, in front of local community leaders and dignitaries in attendance. Also present was guest speaker, Annabeth Surbaugh, Chairman of the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners and also involved with the Feed the Need program.

BHC RHODES recognized Mr. Andrew for his eight year involvement with the Johnson County Feed the Need Golf Tournament and fundraiser. His volunteerism includes chairing the event, continual fundraising, and coordination support of the event. In 2008 the Johnson County Government’s Feed the Need campaign set a record by collecting 23 tons in food donations and cash to benefit 10 local food pantries. Since Mr. Andrew’s involvement with the program a total of 205 tons of food has been collected. Overall there has been over $100,000.00 of monetary donations raised as a result of the Feed the Need campaign.

In addition to the award, BHC RHODES presented Mr. Andrew with a financial contribution to be given to an organization of his choice. He chose the Feed the Need campaign as the recipient. Representative, Lynn Anderson from Feed was present to receive the donation.

BHC RHODES celebrates their five year honor roll of past recipients of the community leadership award. Past recipients were: Julie Wellner, A.I, of Wellner Architects, Courtney Christensen with the City of Mission Hills, KS, Wayne Moody, P.E. and Bob Roddy, P.E, both with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County & Kansas City, KS.

BHC RHODES began the Community Leadership Award program in 2005 to honor an industry professional for his/her efforts in giving back to communities. BHC RHODES, civil engineering and surveying firm was founded in 1992 and is based in Overland Park, KS. Their progressive work environment and “no problem” service led to their growth and recognition as one of the fastest growing businesses in Kansas City. BHC RHODES has been recognized by Ingram’s magazine, The Kansas City Business Journal, Commercial Journal magazine, MSNBC’s “Pick of the Week” and Kansas City’s NBC News “Business In Action.” BHC RHODES has also been awarded Best Places to Work both locally and nationally.
