The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the largest school district in California and the 2nd largest in the United States, will use GEOMAP GIS America’s GEOMAP FM solution to integrate the management of its 14,000 buildings, 18,000 floors and 70,000,000 sq. ft.

The organization is currently using AutoCAD for graphic management of its floor plans, and Maximo to manage its assets, such as furniture and equipment, and also for work management; these two systems operate parallel to each other since there is no link between them. The current environment does not favor integrating the systems, causing information to be desynchronized. To remedy this situation, the LAUSD has selected the GEOMAP FM (Facility Management) solution from GEOMAP GIS America, a CAFM (computer assisted facilities management) that will integrate both environments from this point forward, by linking the graphic information to the descriptive information. In this way each asset originating in the Maximo database will be linked to its graphic representation in GEOMAP FM. The solution will also provide the LAUSD with numerous intelligent facility management (FM) functions: managing equipment and inventory, spaces, employees, moving, maintenance and many other functions.

There is no limit to facility management as long as we have the data. GEOMAP FM is an open, configurable system that interacts with and links to most expert system databases. It coordinates the physical work environment, including buildings, equipment and furnishings according to the organization’s activities and personnel.   GEOMAP FM is based on AutoCAD Map 3D and Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise and completely supports data stored in DWG or other formats (Oracle Spatial, ArcSDE, SHP, etc.).
