SAM, Inc. Presents ACEC National Recognition Award to TxDOT San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas—Samir “Sam” Hanna, RPLS, President of Surveying And Mapping, Inc. (SAM, Inc.), proudly presented the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) National Recognition Award to David Casteel, P.E., the District Engineer for the San Antonio District of TxDOT.

SAM, Inc. was awarded the Gold Medal for Surveying / Mapping Technology from the Texas Council of Engineering Companies (TCEC) Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA), for their project The Complete Surveying Toolkit: Loop 1604/US 281, and was a state finalist in the national ACEC EEA competition. Joining in the presentation were Chris Solomon, RPLS and Patrick Via, P.E. of SAM, Inc, Michael Shelton, RPLS District Survey Manager and Frank Holzmann, P.E. Area Engineer-SAMI of TxDOT San Antonio, and Jason Scheppers, P.E. Transportation Section Manager of HDR, Inc. in San Antonio.

Through a contract with HDR, Inc., SAM, Inc. provided a complete suite of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Quality Level D-A, Land Surveying, Aerial Mapping, and High Density Laser Scanning (HDS) services for TxDOT San Antonio’s engineering efforts at Loop 1604 and US 281. Utilizing leading-edge data collection tools and providing all services in-house, SAM, Inc. was able to provide TxDOT San Antonio with a large amount of high-quality data in an accelerated timeframe while staying within budget.

SAM, Inc. provides complete Land Surveying, Aerial Mapping, GIS, Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), and Utility Coordination services. Founded in 1994, the company employs more than 150 professionals and technicians with offices in Austin, Dallas, and Houston, Texas.
