Toronto, Canada, March 24, 2006 - Optech Incorporated announces the strategic partnership of its Industrial & 3D Imaging Division with Applied Imagery, the manufacturer of QT Modeler software.

Optech will provide Applied Imagery’s QT Modeler Software with Automated Alignment functionality as a standard tool in Optech’s line of Intelligent Laser Ranging and Imaging Systems (ILRIS). This collaboration enables users to generate accurately aligned laser point clouds with minimal user input – at no additional cost to ILRIS customers.

“With the pace of industry development and the increasing number of third-party processing options today, it is vital that our users are equipped with the most versatility and widest choice of post-processing workflows that we can offer,” says Brent Gelhar, Director of Optech’s Industrial & 3D Imaging Division.

The versatility provided in producing automatically aligned point clouds will greatly increase the portability of ILRIS data into third-party, three dimensional processing applications. The alignment software is a module within QT Modeler, and industry-leading laser point cloud viewer and analyzer distributed by Applied Imagery.

“This extension of our working relationship with Optech only increases the application versatility for users entering into the lidar and 3D point cloud analysis fields,” says Chris Parker, President of Applied Imagery.

With direct output to ASCII files, QTC models and Optech’s IXF binary format, there will be no import bottlenecks for end users. Users can simply collect the data, rapidly align the scans and save. Users are now capable of branching into a vast array of applications more cost-effectively than before.
