Dayton, OH (April 14, 2006)…The Ohio Geographically Referenced Information Program (OGRIP), within the State of Ohio Office of Information Technology, recently awarded the Ohio Statewide Imagery Program (OSIP) contract to Woolpert, Inc.

Woolpert will be performing the acquisition and delivery of orthophotography and elevation data for the entire State of Ohio over the next two years, starting with the northern portion of the state. The orthophotography will be developed into base maps as part of a current, integrated and interoperable statewide geographic information system (GIS). The imagery will be available to assist emergency response agencies in maximizing their response and recovery efforts, thus enabling mutual aid response with neighboring counties. The imagery will be used by numerous state agencies, and will be shared with County government for use in such applications as tax assessment, property management, economic development and utility management.

Woolpert will collect the data using Leica ADS40 digital aerial cameras to provide accurate, seamless color orthorectified imagery. In addition, Woolpert will be acquiring a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with the use of LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology. The DEM will be suitable to support the future generation of 2-foot contours. Woolpert has extensive experience creating ortho-imagery, and is the only firm in the country to operate two Leica ALS50 LiDAR units.

Woolpert, Inc., ranked by ENR as a top national design firm, provides professional architectural, engineering, geospatial and related consulting services to clients in the public and private sectors. Founded in 1911, Woolpert’s innovative design approach and commitment to the creative application of technology have grown the firm into a leader in the consulting industry.
